🏖️ 5 Summer Spots You’ll Love Near Virginia, Maryland, and DC (No Long Drive Needed!)
Summer is here — and it’s the perfect reason to get outside, soak up the sunshine, and enjoy some time with family or friends. If you live in the DMV area (DC, Maryland, Virginia), you don’t need to go far to find amazing plans. Here are some of my favorite places for a day off, a picnic, or a quick weekend escape:
☀️ 1. Great Falls Park (VA)

Breathtaking waterfalls, scenic hiking trails, picnic areas, and postcard-worthy views — this park is perfect for reconnecting with nature or spending quality time with loved ones.
🌳 2. U.S. National Arboretum (DC)

A magical oasis right in the heart of Washington, D.C. Explore peaceful gardens, historical columns, and wide-open spaces ideal for relaxing or snapping beautiful photos.
🛶 3. Lake Needwood (MD)

Located in Rockville, this hidden gem offers kayak and boat rentals, green spaces to unwind, and bike-friendly trails. Great for both solo adventures and family outings.
🍓 4. Butler’s Orchard (MD)

In June, you can pick your own strawberries and raspberries — a fun activity for all ages. Plus, they sell fresh produce, homemade treats, and often host small family-friendly events.
🧺 5. Gravelly Point Park (VA)

One of the area’s best-kept secrets: enjoy a picnic right next to the Reagan Airport runway! Watching planes take off and land just overhead is a surprisingly awe-inspiring experience.

🎯 Maybe this summer is also the perfect time to rethink where you live.
While getting out is great, summer can also be the season to reflect on how — and where — you want to live.
Thinking about buying your first home? Want to move to a greener neighborhood? Or just curious what your options look like with your current budget?
